Quick chain & sprocket care (DIY-friendly)

Tension, cleaning, lube

Last updated: 28 Mar 2026, 23:33

Road dust and heat accelerate grime on rollers and O-rings.

  1. Safely spin the rear wheel (main stand or paddock stand if you have one).
  2. Brush off dry grit first; use manufacturer-approved chain cleaner if needed.
  3. Set slack to the manual’s spec — too tight or too loose wears sprockets unevenly.
  4. When dry, apply proper chain lube and turn the wheel to distribute.

If the chain kinks or you’re unsure, see a mechanic — a failed chain at speed is dangerous.
