Helmet & riding gear in Thailand — common basics

Fit, standards, heat, rain

Last updated: 28 Mar 2026, 23:33

Heat and sun make ventilation and sweat management as important as crash protection.

Helmets

  • Fit is safety: snug cheek pads, no painful pressure points, no wobble when you shake your head.
  • Pick a certification level you trust (DOT / ECE / JIS / TIS — depends on budget and availability).
  • Anti-fog or Pinlock-style solutions are worth it for monsoon commuting.

Body gear

  • Abrasion-resistant gloves and covered shoes pay off in small spills.
  • Armoured jackets help, but the gear you’ll actually wear every ride matters most.
