Riding in Thai monsoon season — a short checklist

Tyres, brakes, visibility, rain gear

Last updated: 28 Mar 2026, 23:33

Thai rain can mean flash storms or hours of drizzle — both change grip and stopping distance.

Before you roll

  • Check tread depth and tyre pressures against your manual or swingarm sticker.
  • Confirm headlight, tail-light, and indicators work.
  • Use a helmet with good anti-fog or drop-down sun/visor options for low light.

On the road

  • Increase following distance; slow before bends, not in them.
  • Painted lane markings and metal covers are extra slick when wet.
  • If visibility is poor, pause under cover until it improves.
